We have offered quality education for more than 42 years. We are proudly South African and continue in our quest to provide quality, affordable independent education and to be the best Ecoschool in the area. Our School include a sport and extra mural programme and an active eco-club. We participate in the Eco schools project and our Eco Club is a popular extra mural activity
Making excellent use of Knysnas environment, the estuary, forest, beach and wetlands to further the learners knowledge, not only in the fields of natural sciences, but utilising the outdoor classroom to integrate important skills, attitudes and values in a variety of subject areas such as Numeracy, Literacy and Life skills, to name a few. Our active Eco-club participates in gardening and birding activities, recycling and spreading eco-consciousness to children from other schools.
The strong foundation laid in the Pre-school years at Stepping Stones is continued in the Grade 1- 3 years. We offer a fully integrated programme that ensures the holistic development of your child. We celebrate the diversity of our children.
The school has a creative and practical environment in which many opportunities are provided for children to learn and thrive, taking into account their particular learning styles.
We follow guidelines proposed by the Western Cape Education Department regarding the Revised National Curriculum Statement with a strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills.
We are passionate supporters of the Eco schools initiative and are proud to announce that we have recently received our international flag award. We continue to integrate Eco themes into our curriculum across the board and are in the process of developing an Edu-eco programme that we hope will benefit the greater Knysna community.
We use an individualized reading scheme ensuring that each learner develops his/her reading skills at his/her own pace.
Our school has a Christian ethos and religious instruction is part of the school programme. We support ethical and moral values and teach respect for all religions.
Physical Education, some private sports coaching and an extra mural programme form an integral part the holistic education for your child. We participate in various arranged matches and tournaments that are suitable for the Foundation phase child.
We are privileged to live in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa and often make use of the immediate environment to take children on outings to reinforce or introduce important skills, attitudes and values.
Our children thoroughly enjoy the playground which forms part of an indigenous forest with an ancient milkwood tree. Where they are able to run, swing, slide, climb ropes and trees, play in the sand, on the jungle gyms, and imaginative games.
Our children leave Riverwood Primary School as self confident individuals and proud citizens of a beautiful country.
