Rondebosch Boys Little Bosch Pre-School is located in Rondebosch. From a very simple beginning in 1897, we have grown to include Little Bosch (Grade R), Rondebosch Boys Preparatory School, Rondebosch Boys High School and Rondebosch Old Boys Union. Situated at the foot of the majestic Table Mountain, each school boasts beautiful, spacious grounds and provides a balanced curriculum aimed at the attainment of excellence.
Lessons are presented by a highly qualified team of teachers and we have a well-respected reputation in all aspects of education, including Academics, Sport, Music and the Arts. Our Old Boys Union serves to anchor the Rondebosch family by maintaining fellowship amongst past students and assisting in the advancement of the schools in all of their activities.
The Rondebosch Schools are inspired by the shared motto: Altius et Latius and our symbol of the tree, both of which teach us that the broader the base, the higher we can grow. The combined strength of the schools and Old Boys Union is a unified vision for the boys who pass through our schools to be anchored by strong roots in order to grow Higher and Wider.
Our mission is to provide a balanced programme aimed at the attainment of excellence, which lays the foundation for lifelong learning and leadership. As an educator with nearly 40 years experience, I am passionate about providing a learning environment which ensures that our boys are appropriately equipped to take on the challenges of an ever-changing world.
Little Bosch Grade R is a nurturing and playful, yet structured learning environment. Our boys experience a variety of activities that awaken curiosity, stimulate creativity and develop problem-solving abilities. Our spacious building and grounds are well-secured and provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our Grade R families.
Laughter, shouts of joy and kindly words abound in the beautifully designed indoor and outdoor areas. This, coupled with a learner centred approach that guides and supports our boys in achieving their full potential, enables them to become true Bosch boys!
Our Grade R programme adheres to the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) laid down by the Department of Basic Education. The day begins with a morning ring where teachers set the tone and pace for the day while thematic content, news, weather, months of the year and thoughts and feelings are shared.
Thereafter, the boys are involved in a variety of activities in Mathematics, Home Language (English) and Life Skills. The Grade R teachers monitor and record each boys progress and give encouragement or direction where needed. By the end of a week, each Grade R pupil will have participated fully in a programme that develops literacy and numeracy skills.
Each child is enriched and empowered in Life Skills through the provision of activities in Beginning Knowledge, Personal and Social Well-being, Creative Arts, which embraces Visual and Performing Arts, and Physical Education. These activities cover knowledge of the environment, personal development and health, singing, music appreciation, percussion, rhythm, mime, dramatization, 2D and 3D creative art work, basic ball skills, games and constructive outdoor play.
Snack and toilet routines take place daily, which reinforce healthy habits, such as good manners, an awareness of a healthy lifestyle and good personal hygiene.
