Greyton House Village School Pre-School is located in Greyston. Greyton House is an independent English medium primary and pre-primary school in a village at the foot of the Riviersonderend mountains in the Overberg region. With an emphasis on creativity and the promotion of country values, we offer small classes for our learners who are drawn from our diverse community.
The schools professional orientation is learner centered and we embrace the opportunity to make full use of Greytons beautiful and accessible natural environment.
Greyton House is a fully accredited member of ISASA (Independent Schools Association of South Africa). We are an English medium pre-primary and primary co-educational school, welcoming children from all religions and cultural backgrounds. We provide a holistic education for children from 2 years of age to Grade 7.
Our Greyton House academic curriculum is grounded in the National Curriculum (CAPS), yet we have the flexibility and freedom to extend our scholars way beyond this. Apart from the core subjects, our school has an excellent reputation in Art, offered by Dina Kuijers, a professional artist and Environmental Studies, offered by Marshall Rinquest, the Director of the Greyton Transition Town, who is a permaculture consultant and environmental educator. In addition to this we offer Technology and Coding for all learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Drama is taught by the Helen O'Grady School of Drama and Marimba, Recoders & Bongo Drums lessons are presented by Shaun Cloete.
Our dual-grade classes allow scholars to extend themselves above their current grade and thus reach their full potential. Blended classes offer a wider range of curricula across two grade levels. Greyton House provides a stimulating experience where scholars are guided in the process of questioning, problem solving, understanding, thinking, creating, collaboration and building self esteem. Learning is active, not passive and is not limited to the classroom. We actively search out new ways of facilitating learning and the acquisition of knowledge.
Greyton House cultivates the conditions of a happy, warm family orientated school and families are encouraged to get involved. This in turn builds confidence in the child and shows support for their education. The school itself is a family, with younger children being mentored by older scholars, and each scholar knowing each other by name.
We teach our children to adapt and understand that the world is dynamic, requiring life long learning. With our magnificent backdrop of the mountains this is our playground! This is our world.
