Carnegie House Paarl Pre-School is located in Paarl. Carnegie House Independent School in the Western Cape of South Africa, are made up of the High School (The Hub), Preparatory Schools and Schools for Small Children (Pre-School). The Schools for Small Children cater for children from babies (4 months) to 6 years (Grade R) and the Preparatory Schools cater for Grade 1 through to Grade 7. Our big sister school Carnegie Hub, which follows the International Cambridge Curriculum opened in 2020 and takes our children right through to the end of High school.
Carnegie House Independent School incorporates the core elements of the Montessori philosophy: these include encouraging every childs strong sense of individuality and responsibility, and the promotion of their natural strengths. This in turn leads to the development of confidence and self-esteem, two important characteristics which lead to the childs can do attitude.
Riebeek Kasteel is situated in the Riebeek Valley, in the beautiful Swartland, 20km north of Wellington, 20 km east of Malmesbury and 80km from Cape Town. The Riebeek Valley is made up of the towns and areas of Riebeek Kasteel, Riebeek West, Riebeeks Rivier and Hermon.
Paarl is situated 60 km in the beautiful Winelands about 60km from Cape Town. Paarl is easily accessible from Cape Town as it is situated on the N1. Paarl is a large Boland town and is a very successful tourist attraction.
Carnegie House Preschools in both Riebeek Kasteel and Paarl offers a classroom environment for babies (from 4 months to 16 months), a toddlers environment from 16 months to 3 years and a classroom environment for children from about 3 years to 6 years, All classroom environments are run by experienced staff who uphold the core Montessori principles of independence, respect and freedom within limits. Both the Toddler and Preschool environments are comprehensive, challenging and diverse
The classroom is divided into five core curriculum areas:
PRACTICAL LIFE:
Through a variety of activities, the child learns skills for daily living and helps develop manual dexterity, hand-eye co-ordination, concentration, independence and the ability to initiate his own learning.
SENSORIAL:
This area provides opportunities for the refinement of the five senses through concrete experiences. The child is able to order, classify and describe sensory impressions in relation to length, width, temperature, mass, colour and pitch.
LANGUAGE: Each childs language skills are enriched through vocabulary, conversation and comprehension activities. The phonic approach to reading is used and the children are encouraged to experience the diversity of language in as many ways as possible.
MATHEMATICS: This area makes use of manipulative, concrete materials to enable the child to internalise concepts of number, symbol, sequence, operations and memorization of basic facts.
CULTURAL SUBJECTS: These activities expose the child to basics in geography, history, science, botany and zoology. Music, art and movement education are part of the integrated curriculum. The aim of this area is to help the child to become a true citizen of the world.
In addition, Carnegie House Preschool offers family days, art, music and movement as well as a variety of extra mural activities.
