Our Teaching Philosophy

Applewood believes in a holistic approach – the development of the whole child. We strive to create natural, joyful and rich learning environments with abundant opportunities to create, discover, explore and play. Our aim is to develop confident, resilient and creative children with a solid educational foundation and a love of learning.

Our Team

Our exceptional team of dedicated teachers, interns and teacher’s assistants are passionate about early childhood development. We work closely together with our onsite Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist and Specialist teachers to build relationships, create superb learning experiences and address individual needs.

Apple Blossoms

18 MONTHS TO 3 YEARS

In this class we sing, dance and play within a nurturing, fun and structured environment. We enjoy numerous sensory activities and learn to play alongside each other. We provide opportunities for potty training and a daily afternoon rest.

Apple Pips

3-4 YEARS

Movement and fine motor activities form an integral part of the Apple Pip’s school day.  Fantasy and imaginative play foster social, emotional and language development. Children are encouraged to work more independently and to form positive relationships.

Busy Bees

4-5 YEARS

Children are exposed to more structured learning experiences in the Busy Bees classroom, developing their numeracy, literacy, social and emotional skills. Children are encouraged to take risks, solve problems independently, develop language skills and be creative through messy play.

Clever Cats

5-6 YEARS

In this final year of Pre-Primary, our focus is to prepare the children for Grade 1. The programme includes many specialist role players. We aim to send confident, able children to start their school career. “Learn through play”, remains the motto in this class.
