The Kings College And Preparatory School Primary School is located in Bryanston. The Kings College and Preparatory School has a rich history, having opened our doors in January 1986 with an enrolment of 54 learners and 6 teachers.
The school was started by New Covenant Church Bryanston and, rather than having a focus on the numbers or the bottom- line, the focus has been one of the heart call of God to impact individuals and communities. From the very beginning, even when the school was still relatively small in size, we carried the same big vision of the church for positive change in our community.
In order to truly be an agent of change and fulfil our vision we provide learners with an environment in which they are able to learn and grow academically.
Key, though, is that they grow spiritually, strengthen their characters, and develop their skills and talents to their fullest potential as well. Our goal is not only to educate students, but to raise up and release Godly leaders!
We are an independent Christian school, and while we welcome children and families of different faiths to our school, as a faith-based organisation we ensure that all our learners be actively exposed to the grace and love of Jesus Christ through various activities which include assemblies, church services, and religious instruction. No child may therefore be excused from events or parts of the curriculum that have Jesus as the focus.
Our approach to learning, in and out of the classroom environment, reflects an understanding that each learner has a preferred learning style and that by incorporating different learning methods into the curriculum we are able to provide a more holistic learning experience.
We are registered with the Independent Examiners Board (IEB) for assessment purposes. The IEB is a South African independent assessment agency that is approved by UMALUSI (the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training) and leaners write the IEB National Senior Certificate Exam in Grade 12. To monitor our high academic standards we also participate in the ACER (Australian Council for Education Research) international testing, as well as the IEBs Core Skills Testing and various International Benchmarking Tests IBTs.
As a school we strive for academic excellence, and our academic record under the IEB is exemplary with a 100% pass rate year after year. Our learners also regularly score at and above the IEB averages and we regularly receive notices from universities which acknowledge the achievements of some of our past pupils. It is not, however, only about the top achievers at this school. We believe in developing the potential of each individual. To this extent our smaller classes and personal approach allow each learner to challenge themselves and grow in their self-esteem and confidence.
