Forest Town School is located in Forest Town. At Forest Town School we help all children reach for the skies. We believe that everyone on life's journey deserves to live the richest possible life.
Forest Town School was established in 1948 by a small group of parents who needed education, care and treatment for their children with cerebral palsy. Today, the school caters for learners with a wide variety of special educational needs.
Children attending Forest Town School are between the ages of 5 - 18 years. The Forest Town School journey starts in the Pre-Primary Department. From there, the children either progress to the Junior Modified Department or the Foundation Phase (Grades 1 - 3), depending on their ability and special needs.
The senior section of the school consists of the Senior Modified Department and the Intersen Phase (Grades 4 - 7).
Finally, depending on their abilities and needs, learners still attending Forest Town School at the age of 16 years enter the Work Experience Programme.
Some of the disabilities and difficulties that are catered for are: cerebral palsy, difficulties caused by head injuries, learning difficulties ranging from mild to SLD, attention deficit disorder (ADD) and epilepsy.
Our excellent education departments cater specifically for children with special needs. We provide education to both Pre-Primary, Primary, Senior (modified) aged learners. We have a wide range of education, therapy & medi-health departments to address the difficulties that children with special needs live with everyday.
