Ruimsig Academy Pre-School is located in Roodepoort. Ruimsig Academy follows the education programme Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). This curriculum ensures that the Primary School academic programme is effective and provides a sound foundation for our learners.
As an independent school, Ruimsig Academy has the ability to be flexible with learning programmes and can offer a curriculum that is both inclusive and internationally relevant. Learners are prepared and excel in the high school environment.
Small classes across the entire Primary School, highly experienced teachers and the provision of teaching assistants and interns are central features of these formative years of our children.
Cambridge Primary offers a flexible curriculum with integrated assessment for 6-12 year-olds. Cambridge Primary sets clear learning objectives in English, Mathematics and Science skills for each year of primary education. It focuses on learners development in each year and provides a natural progression throughout the years of primary education, providing international benchmarks for schools. It is also excellent preparation for the next stage of Cambridge Lower Secondary for learners aged 11-14.
Our students start with their Cambridge Lower Secondary in the Grade 7 year.
Grades 00 to R (Ages 5 to 6)
Learning Environment - Our consistent and structured environment allows a child to confidently and securely explore his new and challenging environment. They must LOVE to learn, and to do their work. Children are treated with respect and have clear and consistent limits. A child who is respected and taught discipline is more likely to respect and care for others, and practise self-discipline.
Christian Based Education Our curriculum is based on Christian values. We want children to see God as their other Daddy who they can always ask for help, whenever they are feeling alone or scared. Every school day starts with a Bible Story, to instil in our children the morals and values as taught by the Bible, and experience the wonders of God.
Our school is fully bilingual When teaching concepts, children are taught in their language of first choice (home/preferred). We encourage children to speak in both English and Afrikaans, and this naturally happens on the playground as well. We teach mainly in English. Every aspect of our curriculum is then done in the language of the week, so that all children are exposed to both languages on all levels.
Educational Outings Excursions are undertaken on a regular basis to enrich your childs educational experience. Any theme is much better remembered and understood if they can experience it! We will inform you of all educational outings in writing and ask that you sign an Indemnity form should we leave the school premises for any outing. Please see our yearly program for dates and description of outings.
