Pine Forest Pre-Primary Pre-School is a Christian school based in Bryanston, Johannesburg. We are a fully private, registered school open to children from 18 months to Grade 00.
The school is set in a beautiful parkland with rolling lawns surrounded by a wonderful, established forest. We offer world-class facilities in all respects and have a large extra-mural offering.
Squirrels
These are our little ones. We welcome them with hugs and loves from 18 months old. Boy, do they cry for the first week of school. But we care for them, play with them, love them and generally distract them with fun things to do for most of the day, and then they nap. Our Squirrels have their own home called the Squirrels Drey, and in it we have nappy changing rooms, its own kitchen, teeny tiny toilets for potty training and most importantly, its own playground with a sandpit, swings, a nice safe patch of green lawn, and fun equipment to clamber onto.
Woodpeckers
The Woodies are growing up! How big they are! They move onto a new, separate playground with fun new things to swing on and a much bigger sandpit. They also now progress into some wood cabins like the big kids. And its now time to transition from nappies to small toilets. But despite these big steps, theyre still very little people who need a lot of love and hugs and gentle care. A big change is they start having their breakfasts and lunches in the cafeteria. Take is easy on the tomato sauce Billy! We start with a focus on learning through play, gross motor development and getting ready for the next few years.
Hedgehogs
Whoah, we get to start playing in the Forest playground with the Bees! Were so big! Cool things start happening like learning about stuff that we can then tell to Mommy and Daddy. We get to see different visitors from the small kids. Were super fast on the bikes. We hit the trampolines like its nobodys business. Were the Hedgies. A curriculum is earnestly in effect - with focus on gross motors skills, fine motor skills, learning about our world and environment, caring for others. What did you learn today, Lola? My shapes, my colours.
Bees
The biggest news here is half way through the year we dont nap at school anymore. Were the big dogs. Dont even. Its all about school readiness. It now gets serious. We have to try stay in the lines when were colouring, its so hard. Were at the top of the jungle gym. Watch me on the monkey bars, Mom, Im so good at it. See, I can even jump to the pole and slide down, how cool am I? Were making friends now, were chatting about TV shows and apps - its a new world. We know that were ready for big school and on Graduation Day our Moms and Dads might even shed a little tear, but theyll also realise that were ready to go to Big School. Its time.
