Oxford Combined College Pre-School is located in Kempton Park. Oxford Combined College is an educational institution that strives towards academic excellence within the bounds of a safe and secure environment, which enables each learner to develop to his or her own full potential, thereby, producing competent, free thinking, well adjusted citizens in an ever changing society.
We teach learners to know that real learning is a cast of mind, a habit of life, a way of thinking about things, a way of growing and changing in order to keep up with the ever changing world.
All learners are different. For that reason we have developed strategies to assist learners of various different backgrounds, strengths & challenges that will motivate learners to reach their goals. We pride ourselves in helping students develop skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal relations, teamwork, team leadership and lifelong learning skills, which are all highly valued by employers.
Some learners find it difficult understanding at the pace of group or class lessons. We use one on one sessions to provide the learner with the undivided attention of the teacher. This means more opportunity to engage in real communication, more feedback and better understanding of the learners needs. The learner often has more control over the aims of the class, the pace and the materials and has more opportunities to use the teacher as a resource. The teacher has a greater opportunity to engage in real interaction and to learn the needs of the learner.
Learning in small-groups enhances students' overall learning experiences. It addresses gaps in students' knowledge, allows students to discover and engage with a range of perspectives, ideas and backgrounds and with each other, assists students in clarifying their attitudes to and ideas about the subject matter, as they test their own ideas and attitudes against those of others. It also helps students develop a sense of academic rigour and a willingness to share ideas as well as provides opportunities for students to receive feedback on their learning.
Group activities and projects to introduce students to collaborative teamwork, which is an essential skill employers are looking for in entering the workforce. It encourages learners to expand their skills by allocating tasks based on expertise. One leaner may take on creative tasks, while another gets involved more in the research and compilation. It sometimes may encourage learners to take on tasks outside of their comfort zone to learn new things.
