Our small class sizes enables us to foster a wonderful interaction between learners and educators. Loreto School Queenswood is the ideal place for parents who are looking for a place where learners will be loved and challenged, rather than getting lost in the crowd. The atmosphere at Loreto School Queenswood is Christ-centred and life giving.
Learners are challenged to grow both intellectually and spiritually. Learners sense a balance between high standards and grace and are encouraged to love their studies and find delight in God’s creation and all who live in it. Our motto is “We Grow Children for Life”. This is done by instilling our core values of justice, freedom, sincerity, truth, and joy and offering each child the opportunity to grow into the best version of themselves.
We offer a holistic and person-centred education in developing their faith and educating them for wisdom. At Loreto School Queenswood we encourage participation and celebration, leadership development and formation and inclusivity. We embrace all. We encourage our learners to strive for personal excellence and instil in them a commitment to being “Agents of Social Change”.
In the Reception Phase we welcome children from Grade RRR (5 Years) and children who will be turning 6 anytime from 1 January to 31 December of that year. Our premises are situated in Queenswood, Moot suburbs, within beautiful surroundings, where your child can learn in a carefree and safe environment.
Educators of this age build safe bridges between home and school and lay a strong foundation upon which all further learning will stand. It is important to note that, while many schools have fallen into the trap of formalising their reception year with uniforms, pen and paper work and formal reading instruction, we remain true to the well-documented evidence that the best way for young children to learn is through play. Our Play is meticulously planned, well designed and scaffolded. It has definite planned outcomes and is not merely a way to pass the time. As an alternative to sitting behind a desk and practising how to write the letter "p" on a worksheet, our learners would dress up in the "pizza corner" and take "orders" from their customers by writing six "p's" for the order of six pizzas.
This would then double up as a maths lesson too, when they add up the prices for the customer to pay. It is easy to guess which learner enjoyed their learning the most. Enjoying the process of learning, makes the learners want more of it. Activities are varied and challenging and problem-solving skills enjoy high priority. Literacy, Numeracy, and Life Skills are nurtured through creative activities, Bible lessons, music, and developmental play, both indoors and outdoors.
