Laerskool Hennopspark Pre-School is located in Centurion. During the 1970s, Hennopspark, as a suburb of Centurion, was characterized by a very strong rural character. At the borders of the young, developing area, it was not a strange sight to see sheep in the middle of the road, or to see a car that stood in the middle of the low-water bridge.
In 1981, the wishes of the growing number of Centurion residents were realized, when an Afrikaans primary school was established in Hennopspark.
Hennopspark Primary School opened its doors on January 7, 1981 with Mr. JJ Grové, as principal, nine teachers and two hundred and forty-seven children. The school is officially commissioned by Professor Jooste on November 26.
On January 1, 1982, Mr Dawie van Heerden accepted the post of first chief.
Under his leadership, the school went from strength to strength. One of the strongest features of the new school was the strong parent community that the school carried on their hands from the beginning.
Hennopspark Primary School is today a monument to principals, leaders, parents and teachers, who were willing to give their hearts to the children of this community.
January 1, 2010 again marked an important turning point in school history, when Mr Jannie Raath was appointed head after the retirement of Mr Dawie van Heerden. The school has grown by leaps and bounds since the early years. There are currently around 1900 learners and 150 educators.
After all these years, the commitment of a dedicated staff corps, in partnership with parents who do not hesitate to get involved, continues to be a light of His Light in the community as a school.
