Laerskool Bakenkop Pre-School is located in Centurion. In January 1982 the school started under the roof of Wierda Park Primary School. The school was then known as Wierda Park Second Primary School under the direction of the acting principal, Mr PSN Swart.

On April 23, we moved into our own building and everyone talked about the “Field School”. In October 1982, the school was named Bakenkop Primary School. Our school song was written by the late Koos du Plessis and the words "true to our own" were chosen as motto. Our school badge was approved by the Bureau of Heraldry on February 20, 1984. Our school will be 40 years old on April 23, 2022 and we are planning a big reunion for all the old Bakies!
