Iona Convent School Pre-School is an independent Catholic school that was established in 1923 by the Mercy Sisters from Ireland. It caters for boys from GR R to 3 and girls from Gr R to Matric. We offer affordable private education where we focus on the holistic growth and development of the learners. We aim to provide for the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical development of all our learners. All policies and protocols in place are based on Christian values.
We offer a mercy ethos based on the Christian faith. Classes are small with a caring environment. All teachers are fully qualified and SACE accredited. The school has a well-equipped Gr R class with a qualified teacher. We follow the CAPS curriculum and receive a partial subsidy from the Dept of Basic Education. There is a support team consisting of a social worker, occupational therapist and language therapist on the premises. Stationery for Gr R to 3 is included in the school fees. Gr R and Gr 1 do playball once a week as part of the curriculum. Children are tagged in and out every day on Better Times for safety purposes. The computer lessons teach basic computer skills but we also teach coding and robotics. The MathsBuddy program is used to enhance maths lessons and reinforce newly learnt concepts. The Olympic-sized swimming pool is a big draw card and all learners have swimming lessons once a week during the summer months and can do swimming as an extra-mural activity as well. Extra murals include netball, soccer, swimming, chess, pom pom girls, ballet and karate. The school also offers an affordable aftercare facility.
