Fairways Primary School Pre-School is situated in an urban area which is changing fast due to the residential properties being sold with Business Rights. In addition, there are a number of properties which have been rezoned for Sectional Title Developments. Our learners are drawn from the immediate area, however we do draw children as far afield as Alexandra, Soweto and Midrand.
Fairways Primary School is multicultural representing all race groups and a number of foreign nationals.
Our staff has a long history with the school with 8 of the 14 state paid educators having been at the school for 30 years and longer. We strive to provide a holistic, child centred education for our children to develop disciplined citizens with skills, confidence, sound relationships and social awareness as demonstrated through service.
I believe that in view of the fact that our youth are born into a rapidly changing world of multi media, it has become imperative to provide them with tools to equip them for the future.
Through the recent endeavours of our very active School Governing Body and Parent Body a number of sustainable projects have been embarked on to create an interactive learning environment for our scholars which will encourage greater involvement for all and overcome many a fear related to technology.
We have developed our existing computer centre and have had Gauteng on Line introduced to the school with pleasing results to date. We are also looking at introducing interactive whiteboard technology into the classroom a project for the future.
Further more we have improved our audio visual system in the school and now offer Audio Visual Engineering as a possible job opportunity for our Grade 6 & 7 learners. Once they have completed the training they will be doing community service to put their training into practice. Our aim for 2015 is to develop a trust working ethos of learning for life and to build on the very positive partnerships that already exist in the Fairways Family. We aim to take the school from good to great.
