As a South African school we recognize the need to provide quality education for our students on their journey to excellence. We encourage students to work individually to help them find independence. However, our teachers are never too busy to provide undivided attention to those who require it.
In the Senior College, your child has the choice to follow either the IEB or the CAIE curriculum. As your child progresses, we guide them through their subject and curriculum choices so that every child is carefully positioned to fulfil their potential. In an academically and extramurally stimulating environment, our students thrive as they prepare to confidently establish themselves in an exciting and ever-changing world.
Academics
At Ashton, we embrace a relatively new concept in education by offering students the choice of two worlds.
In Form 1, our students are introduced to a broad spectrum of subjects offered on a combined curriculum of the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). At the end of the first year, our students select their Form 2 subjects and either the CAIE* or IEB Curriculum, based on their Form 1 results.
IEB
IEB is an assessment body accredited by Umalusi, the South African statutory body responsible for quality assurance for school and adult assessments. The IEB offers external assessment in accordance with legislation and Umalusi directives for schools registered with it. quil, nurturing environment.
CAIE
CAIE is the worlds largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications. Our Senior College offers two stages: Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), from Form 2 to Form 3, and Cambridge Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary, from Form 4 to Form 5.
