Grey Boys High School is located in Port Elizabeth. Founded in 1856, Grey is a leading boys school in the 13-18 year age group (Grade 8-12) and has featured prominently on the South African educational landscape for over 160 years. The Grey offers boys an outstanding all-round education that is aimed at preparing our boys for the future, while remaining steeped in history and tradition.
We are confident that boys, though their experiences at The Grey, will grow into fulfilled and responsible men. At Grey, we believe that it is important to provide boys with a strong sense of identity and belonging as this builds confidence, character and courage. Grey provides a plethora of opportunities for boys to find their niche, foster a love of knowledge and develop skills that prepare them to face the many challenges of the rapidly-changing 21st Century.
Grey High School is a public school and, as such, follows the prescribed GET and FET curricula governing education in the country. However, certain additional services are offered. At the end of your sons matric year he will be writing the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.
We aim to enable students to achieve a standard of literacy and numeracy comparable to the best international standards; provide a curriculum which, in all disciplines, consists of content that is both substantial and rigorous and encourage students to reach their maximum potential academically.
In the pursuit of academic excellence, our intention is to inspire in students a love of learning and respect for knowledge in a wide variety of disciplines; to enable students to master skills required to acquire and apply knowledge; to teach students the value of hard work and the importance of healthy competition; to measure student performance by regular competitive internal examinations and external examinations at senior levels and to use technology, where appropriate, to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
